Welcome to Convergent Christianity.
Where Evangelical, Charismatic and Historic expressions are brought together in unity.
It means a lot to us that you would take the time to visit our blog. Relationship and the opportunity to learn from others is of very high value for us so, honestly, thank you.
This blog was born of a couple of needs; our need to bring words to our journeys into, experiences in, and theology of Convergence and the requests of others (our friends, critics and the curious) to better understand who we are, what we believe and what exactly we are doing.
For many people, high Eucharist (communion), loud rock music and pastors (clergy) clad in both collars and tattoos is just to much to process in the moment! Our hope would be that this would be a place that at the very least would help you know our hearts, motivations and reasoning behind our expressions and at the most, convince you of the beauty and benefits of Convergence.
It seemed appropriate that in writing about a movement that is all about bringing differing expressions into unity that the writing of this blog would be done by different authors in unity. You can look to our bios for proper introductions.
In addition to our own voices our hope is to highlight ancient, classic and current Christian leaders and thinkers who have taught a Convergent Christianity or have reflected Convergent values. But it would not be complete or Convergent without the leading voices within the Charismatic (Pentecostal), Evangelical (Protestant), and Historic (Catholic) streams as they, even though they may not be or even like Convergence are ones we must continue to learn from in order to be truly Convergent.
Ultimately, our belief and our dream is that the Church, in all its expressions and beauties would again be united.
